Ingredients for Welsh Rabbit

  • 4 slices of bread, toasted
  • 4 cups American cheese, grated or cut in pieces
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¼ cup water
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Seasonings to taste

Instructions

  1. Put butter, cheese, water, pepper and seasonings in a sauce pan.
  2. Melt slowly on fire, stirring constantly.
  3. When melted, this will form a smooth paste.
  4. Pour it over each piece of toast.
  5. This dish must be served hot.
  6. When obtainable, beer may be used instead of water, the result being better.
  7. Vegetables
