Ingredients for Sally Lunn Recipe 5

  • 1 pint flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 scant cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Warm milk and melt the butter into it.
  3. Stir in flour, add yeast after it is dissolved.
  4. Beat egg separately and add to mixture.
  5. Pour all this into a buttered cake pan. Let stand until double its bulk.
  6. Brush with additional melted butter, sprinkle with sugar, and bake in moderate oven.
  7. Serve warm, cut into squares.
