Ingredients for Raisin And Buttermilk Bread Recipe
- 4 cups flour
- 5 tablespoons vegetable shortening
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 eggs
- Buttermilk to make soft dough
- 1 cup sultana raisins
Instructions
- Sift flour, salt, soda, and cream of tartar into basin.
- Rub in vegetable shortening, add sugar, raisins, eggs well beaten, and sufficient buttermilk to make soft dough.
- Make into smooth mound and roll out.
- Divide into four pieces. Lay each on a greased tin and bake at 400 degrees for about twenty-five minutes.
- Sufficient to make four small loaves.
