Ingredients for Ragout Of Beef Recipe
- Slices of cold roast or boiled beef
- 3 small onions for each pound of meat
- Salt and pepper
- A pot of boiling water
- 1/2 cup of tomatoes
- 1/2 cup of chopped mushrooms
- A few pickled walnuts or capers
- 1/2 teaspoon of curry powder
- 1 tablespoon of flour, mixed with water until smooth
Instructions
- Put in a stewpan slices of cold roast or boiled beef.
- To each pound of meat, add 3 small onions, salt, and pepper.
- Cover with boiling water and simmer two hours or more, or until the meat is so tender as to fall readily to pieces.
- Add tomatoes, chopped mushrooms, walnuts or capers, and curry powder.
- Mix flour with water until smooth. Add a little of the hot liquid and stir well; pour into the hot ragout, and cook ten or fifteen minutes longer.
- Serve with mashed potatoes.
