Peach Shortcake Recipe

Ingredients for Peach Shortcake
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • ¾ cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • Quartered peaches

Instructions
  1. Cream vegetable shortening and sugar together, then add milk, eggs one by one, always beating well between each one, flour sifted with baking powder and salt, then add extract.
  2. Mix and divide into two layer tins that have been greased with vegetable shortening and bake twenty minutes in moderate oven.
  3. Turn out and spread with butter.
  4. Put together with quartered and sweetened peaches and pile some peaches on top.
  5. Sufficient for one cake.
