Ingredients for Maryland Biscuit Recipe

  • 1 pint flour
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Milk and water in equal quantities

Instructions

  1. Mix and sift flour and salt.
  2. Work in shortening with tips of fingers and moisten to a stiff dough.
  3. Toss on slightly floured board and beat with rolling-pin for thirty minutes, continually folding over the dough.
  4. Roll one-third inch in thickness, shape with round cutter two inches in diameter, prick with fork, and place on a buttered tin.
  5. Bake twenty minutes at 375 degrees.
