Instructions
- Boil together for five minutes one cup of maple syrup and one cup of sugar; add one-quarter of a teaspoon of cream of tartar, two teaspoons of butter and two teaspoons of vinegar.
- After it has boiled until it is brittle when tried in cold water, pour it into buttered pans to cool.
- When cool enough to handle, pull it until it becomes hard, then cut it in pieces and allow it to stand two or three days to become "ripened."
