Ingredients for Hot Cakes Recipe 1

  • 2/3 cup coarse zwieback crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk to about 115 degrees.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients well, pour the milk over them, and let stand 10 minutes.
  3. Separate the eggs.
  4. Beat the yolks, and stir them into the crumb mixture.
  5. Beat the whites stiff and fold the crumb mixture into the beaten whites.
  6. Bake on an oiled soapstone griddle until browned.
