Ingredients for French Soup Recipe
- 4 pounds of beef or other meat
- Water
- 3 small sliced carrots
- 3 medium-sized onions, chopped
- 2 cut-up turnips
- 1 head of celery, sliced
- 1 bunch of fresh thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- parsley
- salt
Instructions
- Put 4 pounds of meat into a stock pot with 3 quarts of water; set over low heat and let it boil gently, carefully taking off scum that will rise to the top.
- Pour in teacup of cold water to help scum to rise.
- When no more scum rises, add carrots, onions, turnips, celery, thyme, bay leaf, parsley and 2 teaspoons salt.
- Let it boil gently for two hours.
- If necessary, add more water.
