Ingredients for Dutch Apple Pie Recipe
Filling
- 7 Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled, and sliced
- 2 ounces of raisins
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground clove
Topping
- 1 stick of butter
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1/8 cup candied ginger minced
- 3/4 cup of cream (you might not need all of the cream)
Instructions
Filling
- Saute the apples, raisins, spices, and sugar in the butter until soft.
- Let the filling cool.
- Pour the filling into a prepared pie shell.
Topping
- Mix the butter, flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and ginger in a food processor.
- Slowly add the cream.
- The mixture should be a bit dry and crumbly.
- Crumble the mixture into pea-sized bits and cover the apple filling with the topping.
- Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30 minutes or until done.
