Ingredients for Deep Dish Chocolate Pie Recipe
- 1 deep dish pie crust
- 1/2 C chocolate, grated
- 1 C hot water
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 1 C granulated sugar
- 2 eggs, separated
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch, dissolved in 2 Tbsp. water
- 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar
Instructions
- Line a deep pie pan with rich pie crust and bake in a quick oven (400 degrees) until golden.
- Grate chocolate, place in a saucepan with hot water, butter, vanilla, granulated sugar, egg yolks, and dissolved cornstarch.
- Mix well, cook until thick, stirring constantly.
- Pour into the pie shell and let cool.
- Make a meringue of the two egg whites beaten stiff, with powdered sugar.
- Spread over the pie and slightly brown in the oven.
