Ingredients for vegetable shortening Brownies
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup vegetable shortening
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup chopped nut meats
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Cream vegetable shortening and sugar together, add eggs well beaten, molasses, extract, flour, salt and nuts.
- Divide into small fancy vegetable shorteninged tins, or bake in vegetable shorteninged sheet tin and cut in squares.
- Bake in moderate oven half hour.
- These are a cross between cake and candy.
- Sufficient for twelve squares.
