Champagne Cocktail Recipes
From LoveToKnow Recipes
A splash of Champagne adds flavor, sparkle, and sophistication to any meal and with a few Champagne cocktail recipes, you’ll see that champagne is not just for brunch anymore.
Here’s Looking at You, Kid
Back in the day when every movie worth watching had a song, maybe a dance, a catch phrase, and a drink, the cocktail was king and what you drank told the world who you were or wanted to be. Where would George and Marion Kerby be without their flask? William Powell in “The Thin Man” explains that each cocktail has it’s own rhythm that it must be shaken in. He advises, “The important thing is the rhythm. Always have rhythm in your shaking. Now a Manhattan you shake to fox-trot time, a Bronx to two-step time, a dry martini you always shake to waltz time.” In the movie “Casablanca,” Rick is drinking Bourbon as he says, "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in the world, she walks into mine." But when Rick and Ilsa were together in Paris, they were drinking Champagne cocktails. To be perfectly honest, if I were in Paris with Ilsa I would be drinking Champagne cocktails, too. So go grab your bottle of sparkly and let's get to the Champagne cocktail recipes.

The original Champagne cocktail is made this way:

- Champagne to the top of the glass

- Splash a few drops of bitters onto the sugar cube.
- Fill the glass to the top with Champagne.
- Remember Paris and sip.
The Mimosa
A Sunday without a brunch is a sad Sunday and a brunch without a Mimosa is a travesty indeed. My favorite way to start a Sunday is to get out early and go to brunch where I can linger over a Mimosa or two.
Ingredients
- 1 ounce orange juice
- 3 ounces of Champagne
Instructions
- Pour the orange juice into the Champagne flute.
- Fill the flute with champagne.
- Call “Dibs” on the Arts & Leisure section and relax.
California Dreaming
All along Pacific Coast Highway you will find restaurants that look out over the Pacific Ocean. Here you will find some of the best seafood and spectacular sunsets. A wonderful way to end a day cruising the coast is to stop in at one of these restaurants in time for the sunset and a California Dreaming.
Ingredients
- 2 dashes Kirsch
- 3 measures of pineapple juice
- 1 dash of lemon juice
- Champagne to top off
Instructions
- Put everything but the champagne into a blender.
- Blend for 30 seconds.
- Pour into a wine glass.
- Fill the glass the rest of the way with champagne.
- Face the sunset and sip.
Words of Advice
- Champagne really doesn’t stay very fizzy once it has been opened. There are some Champagne stoppers available and they do work after a fashion, but if you find yourself with some left over Champagne, a situation I have never experienced myself, you can always use the somewhat de-sparkled Champagne to make a dessert sauce.
- Cocktail hour is not so much a specific time but a state of mind.
- A French woman once told me to always keep a bottle of Champagne in the refrigerator “Just in case.” I have never regretted following this advice.
