Nut cookie recipes have been around since forever. Nuts are natural and plentiful, and whether you use English walnuts, macadamia nuts, or pecans, you can be assured the addition will be appreciated by the cookie-nibbles in your household.
Nut Cookie Recipes Are Healthy?
While anything loaded with sugar and fat is not likely to ever be labeled as “healthy,” adding nut cookie recipes can have some health benefits. Nutmeats are loaded with protein and natural fiber. They also include a number of essential nutrients, including B vitamins, vitamin E, and minerals such as iron, zinc, magnesium, and potassium.
Word of Warning
One word of caution before you add nutmeat to a recipe. Some people suffer from nut allergies. If you are unfamiliar with the people who will consume your baked goods, make sure they are aware of that special ingredient. Sending cookies to school for treat day? Send along a copy of the recipe. Baking up a few dozen brownies for the PTA? Make a placard to set up in front of the tray. Chocolate chip cookies are great, but chocolate chip-pecan sandies may set off alarms from some well-meaning purchaser.
In Conclusion
While nut cookie recipes include some healthy and unhealthy attributes, such as high in fat content, they are a delectable addition to most cookie recipes. Experiment with your favorite recipes by adding nuts or using a different type of nutmeat in order to alter the flavor just slightly. Chances are good that you will have plenty of volunteers ready to help you eat up your baking results.
