Ingredients for Butterscotch Biscuits Recipe

  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 7/8 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup butter, creamed
  1. 3/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Using fingertips, work in shortening and milk, stirring with a knife. Roll the dough thin.
  3. Mix the butter with the brown sugar and spread on top of the dough.
  4. Roll up like a jelly roll, cut off pieces 1 inch thick, put in greased muffin pans cut side up, and bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees F.
  5. This makes 16 biscuits.
