Ingredients for Blushing Apples Recipe
- 6 red apples
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- Whipped cream
- Grated rind and juice of one orange
- Juice of one lemon
Instructions
- Core the apples.
- Make a syrup of the sugar and water and pour it over the apples in a warm pan, turning them so they will cook evenly until they are tender.
- Carefully remove the skin, scraping the red pulp from it.
- Put the apples in a serving dish.
- Reduce the syrup to one cup and add the grated rind and juice of one orange, the lemon juice, and if desired, nuts, candied orange peel, or raisins.
- Pour syrup over apples and serve with whipped cream.
