Ingredients for Beer Can Chicken Recipe

  • 4 pound chicken, whole with neck and giblets removed
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons dry spice rub
  • 1/2 can beer

Instructions

  1. Spread vegetable oil over entire chicken.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the salt, pepper and dry rub.
  3. Coat inside and outside of chicken with dry mixture.
  4. Place half can of beer on countertop and place chicken ove the can, pushing the beer inside the neck opening.
  5. Place chicken on the center of a grill with the legs holding the chicken up.
  6. Using indirect heat, close the lid and cook the chicken for at least one hour and 20 minutes. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees F in the breast.
  7. Remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
