Ingredients for Baked Parsnips

  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • 5 parsnips
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and wash parsnips and cut into two lengthwise, and steam for one hour.
  2. Remove from fire, lay in greased baking pan, sprinkle with salt and pepper, spread vegetable shortening over top and bake slowly till tender.
  3. Serve hot.
