Ingredients for Apple Jelly No. 1 Recipe

  • 7 pounds apples
  • 2 ounces blanched almonds
  • 2 ounces root ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 pints water

Instructions

  1. Boil the apples in the water for an hour and a half; strain through a sieve.
  2. Add 1/2 pound of sugar to each pint of strained liquid and boil for 20 minutes.
  3. Then, add the sugar and ginger and boil 20 minutes more.
  4. Put the jelly into small jars and drop in the nuts before it sets.
  5. Lemon juice may be added instead of ginger if preferred.
