Ingredients for Apple Jelly No. 1 Recipe
- 7 pounds apples
- 2 ounces blanched almonds
- 2 ounces root ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 3 pints water
Instructions
- Boil the apples in the water for an hour and a half; strain through a sieve.
- Add 1/2 pound of sugar to each pint of strained liquid and boil for 20 minutes.
- Then, add the sugar and ginger and boil 20 minutes more.
- Put the jelly into small jars and drop in the nuts before it sets.
- Lemon juice may be added instead of ginger if preferred.
