Ingredients for Wheat Griddle Cakes Recipe

  • 1 package yeast
  • 1 cup milk, scalded and cooled
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons shortening or butter, melted
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 cup sifted flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast and brown sugar in lukewarm water.
  2. Add shortening or butter, then flour gradually, the eggs well beaten, and salt.
  3. Beat thoroughly until batter is smooth.
  4. Cover and set aside for about one hour, in a warm place, free from drafts, to rise.
  5. When light, stir well and bake cakes on hot griddle.

NOTE:- All batter cakes are better baked on an ungreased griddle, as they keep their shape and do not follow the grease.
