Instructions

  1. Corn and Onions Recipe, Butter plentifully a deep baking dish, and cover the bottom an inch deep with green corn cut from the cob.
  2. Season well with salt and pepper and butter, then put in a layer of tomatoes peeled and sliced.
  3. Season them likewise, then add a layer of sliced and soaked onions.
  4. Repeat till the dish is full, letting onions come on top.
  5. Cover with an inverted plate, and bake until nearly done-say about an hour.
  6. Then take off the plate and cook fifteen minutes longer.
  7. Sugar added to the seasoning is to many minds an improvement.
