Ingredients for Tomato Sauce
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons sliced onion
- ½ clove of garlic
- ¼ teaspoon pickle spice
- 2 cups canned tomato
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- Few grains pepper
- 3 tablespoons Argo or Kingsfords Cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons corn oil

Instructions
- Combine the tomato, onion, garlic, corn syrup and seasonings and simmer twenty minutes.
- Rub through a sieve and thicken with the cornstarch creamed with the corn oil.
- Serve with any kind of white fish, meat or fish croquettes or with poached eggs.
- Bordelaise Sauce Recipe
- To Tomato Sauce, add one-third cup minced shallots, a minced clove of garlic, and a teaspoon of chopped parsley cooked gently till yellowed in one tablespoon corn oil.
- Add a little lemon juice and if convenient two tablespoons beef marrow.
- Serve with any kind of boiled meat or fish, meat or fish loaf or with sliced tenderloin of beef.
