Ingredients for Tomato Cream Soup--no. 1 Recipe
- 12 ripe tomatoes
- 3 teaspoons of corn starch
- 1 teaspoon of butter
- 1 quart of scalding milk
- Pinch of soda
- Season with salt, pepper, and sugar

Instructions
- Cut up tomatoes and place in a saucepan. Stew until tender.
- Rub through a strainer.
- Thicken with corn starch that has been rubbed to a paste with a teaspoon of butter.
- Pour scalding milk in slowly, in which a pinch of soda has been dissolved.
- Season with salt, pepper, and sugar.
