Ingredients for Tomato Broth Recipe

  • 2 cups canned tomato
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ tablespoon corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • Few drops onion juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1-½ tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ tablespoon corn oil

Instructions

  1. Stew the tomatoes, seasonings, and corn syrup ten minutes.
  2. Strain, but do not rub all the pulp through.
  3. Add the baking soda and thicken with the cornstarch creamed with the corn oil.
  4. Combine with the milk, heated, and serve with croutons.
