Tilapia Fish Recipes
From LoveToKnow Recipes
Tilapia is one of the more popular fish on the market today and with these tilapia fish recipes, it will be one of the more popular fish on your table.
Sustainable Fisheries
Farm-raised fish are widely available and are a viable option in the face of over-fishing of wild species. Like salmon, tilapias do very well in the farm environment. Unlike salmon, which need a rather specific diet, tilapia can thrive on a diet of vegetable or grain-based feeds. So if you are a fan of eating fish but want to avoid the further depletion of our sea's resources, tilapia is a very tasty option.
You’re Soaking in It
Some people feel that tilapia has a somewhat muddy taste. This sometimes happens with fish that eat a diet that includes vegetation. In order to counteract this muddiness, a brief 15-20 minute soaking in buttermilk will draw the unwanted taste out of the fish. I have never encountered this off-taste but know others who have. Once they have tried the buttermilk soak, they reported back that it did remove the unwanted flavor. If, in the past, you have found that you did not like the taste of tilapia, try the buttermilk trick before moving on to your tilapia fish recipes.
