Instructions
- To one pint of rich buttermilk add one even teaspoon of baking soda and beat well; stir in half a teaspoon of salt and enough graham flour to make a batter rather stiffer than cake batter; pat into two thin cakes and bake in a brisk oven.
- If you object to this amount of crust lay one on top of the other to bake, with bits of butter between.
- Have ready a quart of strawberries sweetened and mashed.
- Pull the cakes apart, butter and spread the fruit between and on top.
- Eat with plenty of rich, sweetened cream.
