Ingredients for Steamed Nut Bread Recipe

  • ½ pint graham flour
  • 1/3 cup vegetable shortening
  • ½ cup white flour
  • 1 cup chopped English walnut meats
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Cream vegetable shortening and sugar together. Add egg well beaten, milk, salt, flours, baking powder, and nuts.
  2. Mix and turn into vegetable shorteninged mold. Cover with greased paper and steam for two hours.
  3. This nut bread is delicious served hot with butter. It may be served as a pudding with cream or liquid sauce.
