Ingredients for Steamed Nut Bread Recipe
- ½ pint graham flour
- 1/3 cup vegetable shortening
- ½ cup white flour
- 1 cup chopped English walnut meats
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Cream vegetable shortening and sugar together. Add egg well beaten, milk, salt, flours, baking powder, and nuts.
- Mix and turn into vegetable shorteninged mold. Cover with greased paper and steam for two hours.
- This nut bread is delicious served hot with butter. It may be served as a pudding with cream or liquid sauce.
