Ingredients for Steamed Fruit Pudding

- ¾ cup corn syrup
- 1/3 cup corn oil
- 1 cup sour milk
- 1 egg (optional)
- ¼ cup Argo or Kingsfords Cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon soda
- 2-¼ cups flour
- 1 teaspoon each cinnamon and clove
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped raisins
- ½ cup cleaned currants
- ¼ cup chopped citron or candied orange peel
- ¼ cup chopped nut meats, any kind

Instructions
- Combine the corn oil, corn syrup, milk and egg, beaten.
- Sift together the cornstarch, flour, soda, spices and salt.
- Add to the fruits, two extra tablespoons flour.
- Beat the flour into the first mixture, add the fruit.
- Oil a pudding mould, that holds about a quart and a half, with corn oil.
- Put in the mixture, cover and steam four hours.
- Serve with Lemon Sauce.

- Lemon Sauce Recipe

- 3/4 cup corn syrup
- Few grains salt
- Juice 1/2 lemon
- 1 egg
- Heat the corn syrup, pour into the egg yolk beaten light, return to the range and stir two or three minutes until thickened.
- Add the salt and lemon juice and pour into the beaten egg white.
