Ingredients for Steak Fajita Recipe

  • 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 pound round steaks or skirt steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 red bell peppers, sliced
  • 2 green bell peppers, sliced
  • Desired fajita fixings:
    • Tortillas
    • Cheese
    • Sour cream
    • Guacamole
    • Salsa
    • Beans
    • Rice
    • Lettuce
    • Tomatoes

Instructions

  • Combine lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, cumin, chili powder, liquid smoke, and salt; stir well.
  • Place sliced steak in a large cooking bag or shallow pan and add marinade. Mix well, making sure all slices of steak are well coated.
  • Marinade in the refrigerator at least one hour, but preferably overnight for optimal flavor.
  • Cook peppers and onion in vegetable or olive oil, stirring until slightly soft. Add steak and cook, stirring, until desired doneness.
  • Serve with desired fajita fixings.
