Ingredients for Squash Pie Recipe 2

  • 2 cups stewed squash
  • 1 tablespoon melted vegetable shortening
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs until light.
  2. Place squash in quart measure, add sugar, vegetable shortening, salt, spice, and then beaten eggs.
  3. Stir well and add sufficient milk to make 1 quart of whole mass.
  4. Turn into pie tin lined with vegetable shortening pastry and bake slowly for 45 minutes.
  5. When done a silver knife when inserted will come out from it clear.
  6. Squash pie will become watery if allowed to boil.
