Ingredients for Spoon Bread Recipe
- 1½ cups cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon melted shortening
- 2 teaspoons baking powder

Instructions
- Boil cornmeal with salt in a little water for 5 minutes. Add the milk.
- Allow to cool off, then beat until smooth.
- Beat in the sugar, shortening, well-beaten egg, and baking powder. Continue beating for a few minutes.
- Pour into greased pan and bake about 20 minutes at 400 degrees.
