Ingredients for Southern Baked Macaroni and Cheese Recipe
- 16 ounces elbow macaroni
- 1 1/2 lbs. shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 stick butter, softened
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cook pasta according to package. Drain off excess water.
- Layer macaroni in the bottom of a large casserole dish.
- In a large bowl, stir together about one pound of cheese with the milk, butter, and seasonings.
- Pour cheese mixture over the pasta.
- Top with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 1 hour or until the top is golden brown.
