Instructions

  1. Sift together one and one-half cups of flour, one teaspoon each of soda, clove, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  2. Cream one cup of sugar with one cup of butter, add the flour and one cup of sour milk alternately.
  3. Then one cup of raisins mixed with one-half cup of flour.
  4. Beat thoroughly and bake in a moderate oven.
  5. If the batter seems too stiff remember that cake without eggs requires a stiffer batter.
