Instructions
- Whip the sour cream very stiff, adding the white of an egg, and beating all up together; chop very fine some common shagbark walnuts, English walnuts, or, better still, butternuts, which make the cake very rich and toothsome.
- Stir these through the cream, add one teaspoon of vanilla, or a little more if the filling seems to need it, and then stir in sugar until the filling tastes sweet; now it is ready to spread between the layers of the cake, heaping it roughly on top.
