Ingredients for Soft Custard

  • +++
  • 1 pint milk
  • ¼ cup corn syrup
  • Few grains salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1-½ tablespoon Argo or Kingsfords Cornstarch
  • 2 or 3 drops vanilla

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk in a double boiler.
  2. Stir together the egg yolk, corn syrup, cornstarch and salt.
  3. Add to the scalded milk and cook, stirring gently, until the mixture coats the spoon -- about three minutes.
  4. Chill, flavor and use as a custard or sauce.
