Ingredients for Silver Nut Cake Recipe
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup vegetable shortening
- 4 whites of eggs
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup chopped pecans or English walnut meats
- ½ cup milk
Instructions
- Cream vegetable shortening and sugar.
- Sift dry ingredients and add to vegetable shortening mixture, alternating with the milk; add nuts and vanilla extract.
- Beat egg whites to stiff froth and fold in at last.
- Turn into vegetable shorteninged and floured cake tin and bake in moderate oven 35 minutes.
- Sufficient for one small cake.
