Shepherd's Pie Recipe

Ingredients for Shepherd's Pie Recipe

• 1 lb. ground or chopped meat
• 2 tablespoon breadcrumbs
• 1 small chopped onion
• 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
• 1 cup gravy
• Salt (to taste)
• Pepper (to taste)
• Powdered herbs to taste (thyme, marjoram, oregano all work)
• 1 tablespoon tomato catsup

Topping

• Mashed potatoes, prepared
• 2 tablespoon butter
• 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

1. Brown the meat until thoroughly cooked
2. Mix in all remaining ingredients except butter, egg and mashed potatoes and blend.
3. Place mixture into an ovenproof casserole or baking dish and cover with a thick layer seasoned mashed potatoes.
4. Brush over with beaten egg and dot with butter.
5. Bake 20 minutes in a medium oven (approximately 350 degrees).
