Shaker Raised Doughnuts Recipe

Instructions
- Boil three medium-sized potatoes and mash.
- While hot add two cups of sifted flour, enough of the boiling potato water to make a batter, and salt to taste.
- When cool add two tablespoons of homemade yeast and flour enough to knead.
- Let this rise over night.
- Roll out and cut into pieces three inches long, two inches wide and one-half inch thick.
- Let these rise ten minutes before frying in deep beef fat.
- If made properly they should have large holes in them when broken.
- Serve with maple syrup.
