Ingredients for Scotch Scones Recipe 2

  • 1-¼ cups rolled oats put through food chopper
  • 2 tablespoons corn oil
  • 2/3 cup scalded milk
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup, Red or Blue Label
  • 1-½ cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoons Argo or Kingsford's Cornstarch
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Put the oatmeal in a small mixing bowl, add the corn oil, corn syrup and hot milk.
  2. When cold, add the remaining ingredients sifted together.
  3. Mix, turn onto a floured board and divide into two portions.
  4. Roll each into a round cake, one-half inch thick, cut into four triangles, bake on a hot griddle oiled with corn oil, turning only once.
  5. Allow about fifteen minutes for the cooking.
  6. Serve with butter, plain or with any marmalade or jelly.
