Ingredients for Savory Vegetable Loaf

  • 1-½ cups soaked stale bread
  • ¾ cup cooked brown beans
  • 1-½ tablespoons vegetable butter
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 1-½ tablespoons brown flour
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • Sage, marjoram, and salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the bread in cold water, and press out lightly.
  2. Put butter, onion, and savory into a small pan and simmer for a few moments, but do not brown.
  3. Add the brown flour, then the milk and stir smooth.
  4. Mash the beans with a spoon, break the egg with a fork, and mix all ingredients.
  5. Put into an oiled baking tin and bake until set and a nice brown.
