Ingredients for Savory Steak

  • 2½ pounds beef, rib or sirloin
  • 4 onions, peeled, quartered
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 4 carrots, peeled, quartered
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 tomatoes, chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • Bay leaves
  • Thyme
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • Seasonings to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the meat and vegetables in the butter in a frying pan.
  2. Sprinkle with the flour.
  3. Remove meat and vegetables from frying pan.
  4. Put meat and vegetables in a kettle.
  5. Add all other ingredients.
  6. Cover.
  7. Let it cook slowly for about 1 hour.
  8. Then serve.
