Ingredients for Sally Lunn Recipe 8

  • 1 cake of yeast
  • 2 cups milk, scalded and cooled
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 4 cups sifted flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast and sugar in lukewarm milk.
  2. Add butter, then flour, well-beaten eggs, and the salt.
  3. Beat until perfectly smooth.
  4. Pour into well-greased pans.
  5. Cover and let rise in a warm place, free from draught, until double in bulk--about one and one-half hours.
  6. Sprinkle one tablespoon granulated sugar over top and bake twenty minutes in hot oven.
  7. This recipe will fill two medium cake pans.
