Ingredients for Salisbury Steak Recipe
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 (10 1/2 ounce) can condensed French onion soup
- 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
- 1-1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
- prepared mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles

Instructions
- Add bread crumbs, salt, pepper, and 1/3 cup soup to the beaten egg; stir.
- Add beef to mixture and use hands to mix lightly.
- Shape with hands to make patties-- either 4 large or 6 medium-sized. For more authentic Salisbury Steak, make oval-shaped patties.
- Brown patties over medium heat, turning once; remove from pan.
- After removing grease and drippings from pan, add flour and water to the pan. Stir well.
- Stir in ketchup, Worschestershire sauce, mustard, and leftover soup. Heat over medium heat, stirring well, until mixture begins to boil.
- Allow to boil another 2 minutes and continue to boil.
- Add browned patties to the pan.
- Bring back to the boil; cover and lower heat. Simmer for approximately 20 minutes.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
