Ingredients for Rusks Recipe
- ½ cup milk, scalded
- 2¼ cups flour
- 2 tablespoons shortening, melted
- ½ cup water
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon grated nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 5 teaspoons baking powder

Instructions
- Sift and mix together flour, salt, brown sugar and baking powder.
- Add nutmeg and cinnamon.
- Add beaten egg, milk and melted shortening to the water.
- Pour into the first mixture and mix well.
- Turn out on floured board.
- Divide into small pieces, shape into rolls and place on greased pans not too close together.
- Allow to stand for about 15 minutes.
- Brush top with a little milk and sprinkle with a little brown sugar.
- Bake in moderate oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
