Ingredients for Rolled Oats Bread Recipe
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ½ cup molasses
- 2 teaspoons salt
- ½ yeast cake
- ½ cup lukewarm water
- Flour
Instructions
- Add boiling water to oats and allow to stand one hour.
- Dissolve yeast cake in lukewardm water.
- Add molasses, salt, vegetable shortening, dissolved yeast cake, and enough flour to make a stiff dough.
- Knead well and let rise.
- Knead again and divide into two vegetable shorteninged bread pans. Let rise again and bake forty minutes at 450 degrees.
