Ingredients for Roast Ham, Virginia Style Recipe

  • 1 ham about 8 to 10 pounds
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon pickle spice
  • Cloves
  • Dry bread crumbs
  • More corn syrup

Instructions

  1. Virginia Style Recipe, Scrub the ham with cold water containing a little baking soda, rinse in cold water and place in a kettle with the corn syrup and pickle spice.
  2. Cover with boiling water and simmer until tender - about four hours.
  3. Let stand in the water two hours.
  4. Part off the skin, brush with corn syrup, sprinkle thickly with the crumbs and dot with the cloves at even intervals.
  5. Bake one and one half hours in a slow oven, basting frequently.
