Ingredients for Rich Chocolate Cake Recipe

  • 2 cups pastry or cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cup superfine sugar
  • 3 squares baker's chocolate
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 container of chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Sift the pastry or cake flour.
  3. Sift the flour a second time including the salt and baking soda.
  4. Blend the butter to a creamy texture and slowly stir in the sugar. Mix until light and airy.
  5. Add 1 egg and beat it well. Repeat with the other egg.
  6. Add the almond extract to the milk and set aside.
  7. Warm the chocolate in a microwave or on the stovetop. Allow it to cool.
  8. Slowly, combine the chocolate and butter mixture. Then, blend in the milk mixture.
  9. Pour the batter into 2 greased and floured 8-inch cake pans.
  10. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Allow to cool before topping with your favorite frosting.
