Ingredients for Red Velvet Chocolate Cake Recipe
Cake ingredients:
- 1 cup butter
- 3 cups sugar
- 6 eggs
- 1 ounce red food coloring
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder, unsweetened
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
Frosting ingredients:
- 16 ounces cream cheese
- 12 ounces white chocolate, melted
- 1 cup butter
Instructions
- Allow butter to come to room temperature.
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Using a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar.
- Add one egg and beat well. Repeat until all eggs are incorporated.
- Combine cocoa and food coloring and add to sugar mixture.
- Add 1 cup of flour followed by 1/3 cup buttermilk. Repeat until both are fully added.
- Gently mix the baking soda and vinegar. Stir slowly into the mixture.
- Pour the batter into three greased and floured 8-inch pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow it to cool while making the frosting.
Frosting:
- Allow the melted white chocolate to cool.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until fluffy. Mix in white chocolate and warm butter.
- Beat all together until it becomes creamy and light.
- Use frosting to for the frosting and layer filling.
