Ingredients for Quick Dinner Rolls Recipe

  • 1 compressed yeast cake
  • ¾ cup scalded milk
  • ¼ cup tepid water
  • 2 tablespoons corn oil
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • From 3 to 4 cups bread flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in the water.
  2. Scald the milk. When it is cooled, combined it with the corn syrup, salt, and corn oil.
  3. Sift in three cups flour, beating hard. Add more to make it the right consistency to knead.
  4. Let rise until double in size. Cut down, roll to one-fourth-inch thickness, and brush sparingly with corn oil. Shape with a large round biscuit cutter and crease with the back of a knife.
  5. Fold into pocket shape, place in a pan oiled with corn oil, and let rise until double again.
  6. Bake 15-20 minutes in a hot oven, 375 degrees F.
