Ingredients for Paste

  • 5 cups flour
  • 1½ cups vegetable shortening
  • 1/3 cup ground almonds
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 yolks of eggs
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Sift flour and almonds into basin, rub vegetable shortening into them, add salt, sugar, eggs well beaten and water to make stiff paste.
  2. Leave in cool place two hours, then roll out and use for pies and tartlets.
  3. Sufficient for four pies.
